State absent and " lack of immediate responses " with a paramilitary gang that was able to "act for 40 minutes undisturbed in a significant portion of territory". This is the complaint from the trade unions of security guards in Sardinia who, with a joint statement , have proclaimed the strike for Wednesday 3 July . The confederal acronyms FILCAMS-CGIL, FISASCAT-CISL and UILTuCS of Sardinia, (the signatures are of the regional secretaries Nella Milazzo, Giuseppe Atzori and Andrea Lai) speak of a « worrying escalation of violence in the sector , perpetrated on armored vans and for the incredible assault on the headquarters of the Vedetta 2 Mondialpol on Friday 28 June , the third, which put the lives of employed workers, the safety of citizens and the police forces themselves at risk." A state of unrest is proclaimed with a day of abstention from service due to a strike in the valuables transport and counting sector for the entire day of 3 July 2024 for the entire territory of the island. The unions write: «The absence of control of the territory by the State, the lack of staff of the police forces, which lack adequate tools to deal with now paramilitary attacks, are worrying».
«The spread of armed gangs – continues the statement – who easily manage to carry out brutal robberies, has seen entire areas of Sardinia in crisis during the attacks , governed solely by these gangs, who have been able to act undisturbed for long periods of time , with full freedom of movement, allowing you to carry out any type of robbery. The great operational capacity of these nuclei with considerable firepower requires, without further delay from the State, the adoption of extraordinary measures proportionate to the spread of these clearly underestimated assaults over the years".
«In fact, we believe that the Order and Security Committees should be supported by one or more ad hoc crisis tables with the participation of the undersigned Confederal Trade Union Federations, since they represent the Private Security Guards, today subjects truly exposed and in serious danger», they conclude. Sit ins are planned for July 3 in Cagliari and Sassari.
