The perpetrators were two young people from 2003 who did not stop at the local police station in Piazza Castello and, aboard a Peugeot 206, attempted to outrun two patrol cars and a motorcyclist from the Municipal Police by launching themselves at full speed into Viale Umberto, also reaching the 100 km per hour.
The race, which put pedestrians and motorists in serious danger, continued up to Via Togliatti where the two, finding themselves in a dead-end street, got out and tried to get away but were immediately blocked by the police.
The officers' subsequent search of the car allowed them to find approximately 200 grams of marijuana hidden in the dashboard and bags. Today the direct message for the two twenty-year-olds, defended by the lawyers Marco Palmieri and Mario Pittalis while the prosecutor was Angelo Beccu. In the end, judge Valentina Nuvoli decided on 10 and 9 months with a suspended sentence.
