Jealous outburst, with verbal threats and attempted physical aggression. An afternoon hard to forget at the “Santa Lucia” in Assemini. Tuesday, on the first floor of the rehabilitation and multi-specialist medical center affiliated with the ASL, what should have been a routine sports medical visit turned into a half hour of madness and fear.
A 17-year-old girl was getting ready to see a specialist, accompanied by her mother because no minor can take medical exams without the presence of a parent. Nothing strange except that the girl's 18-year-old boyfriend, sitting in the waiting room, started eavesdropping from behind the door. And when he heard the doctor's request ("Miss, take off your shirt, I have to proceed with the electrocardiogram") pandemonium broke out: the young man burst into the room with arrogance, first kicking the door, going into a rage and threatening the doctor. The problem? The fact that a "male" was examining his partner.
Crazy jealousy
The young man was unable to physically attack the doctor, he was stopped first by those present. An employee tried to calm him down, taking him outside to smoke a cigarette. But here, again, the 18-year-old began to throw pieces of tile detached from the pavement against the window of the room where the examination was taking place, risking hitting those inside. Not satisfied, he went up to the first floor again with the intention of attacking the doctor with a helmet. But the Assemini carabinieri, alerted shortly before, arrived on the scene and the attacker immediately disappeared.
So far, no complaint has been filed by either the sports medicine specialist or the owners of the medical center. Instead, the mortified apologies to the doctor were immediately received from the parents of the two boys. In particular, the mother of the jealous eighteen-year-old, who arrived on the scene with her husband.
Frequent cases
Exclusivity, possessiveness and excessive attachment transform relationships into toxic ones, often degenerating into acts of violence. There is an increasing lack of balance and the number of “problematic” kids who become practically unmanageable for families is increasing, especially when they reach adulthood. This is the opinion of psychologist Katiuscia Didu: «The two young people clearly have a relationship of significant emotional dependence. The boy’s narcissistic trait and emotional manipulation make him want to control her, tell her what to do in every situation, thinking he knows what is best for her. For these individuals, women are not people but objects to be possessed. Unfortunately, it is not an isolated case».
