A serious accident occurred on the island of Asinara, where a tourist fell and hit her head hard, shortly before boarding the ferry to return to Porto Torres . The 79-year-old woman, originally from Bergamo, was about to board the ferry after a day on the island when she fell heavily onto the Cala Reale dock, suffering a head injury.
Rescue workers and the doctor from the Cisom health centre on the island arrived on the scene and, after providing initial treatment, arranged for the woman to be immediately transferred by helicopter to the emergency room of the Alghero hospital .
The Carabinieri, the Forestry Corps, and CISOM operators also intervened. The captain of the motor vessel Sara D waited for the rescue operations to conclude before continuing the return journey. The emergency caused a delay in arriving in Porto Torres.
