Four months of 24-hour health service in the Asinara National Park. Starting from Saturday 1st June the seasonal medical unit will be active on the island. The service will be operational until 30 September and is made possible thanks to an agreement stipulated by the Municipality of Porto Torres, the ASL of Sassari, the Cisom (Italian Rescue Corps of the Order of Malta), the Asinara Park Authority, the Coastal Conservation Agency and the Port Authority.

Given the positive results of the previous summer seasons, the parties involved have decided to guarantee also for this year the medical facility capable of providing a first aid health service for the population transiting or staying on the island during the periods of greatest influx . Cisom will guarantee the medical service with qualified healthcare personnel during the 12 hours of the day at the Cala d'Oliva clinic and from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm (with lunch break from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm) at the Cala Reale medical clinic, guaranteeing in any case, ready availability even outside the aforementioned hours throughout the day at the Cala d'Oliva health facility and, if necessary, in the Cala Reale health facility.

Based on the protocol, Cisom will provide a specialist doctor and a nurse for the Cala d'Oliva clinic and a doctor and a first aider/nurse for the Cala Reale clinic. An ambulance and an off-road vehicle will also be made available. The ASL will guarantee the financial coverage necessary for Cisom for the temporary service, the presence on the island of two advanced medicalised emergency vehicles with medical equipment for emergencies and two emergency doctors (one of which is a specialist), a nurse and a rescuer . The Asinara Park Authority will provide the necessary support for the correct carrying out of the service and will make available a suitable clinic at Cala Reale, while the Conservatory will make the premises at Cala d'Oliva available to Cisom necessary for the health service and for the overnight stay of professionals. The Municipality of Porto Torres will deal with any conventional needs of municipal competence, as the political body and administration responsible for the territorial area of the island.

In addition to providing initial treatment, the service will ensure every necessary contact with the Maritime Authority and with the local and health authorities possibly aimed at organizing, if deemed necessary, the transport of the patient to the mother island for subsequent hospitalization through the service 118, contacted in advance. The operational number in Cala Reale is 079-409420 and 4 other telephone numbers are being activated which will be published on the institutional website and social channels of the Municipality of Porto Torres. The service can also be contacted via radio on VHF channel Ch 16.
