Arson attack in Quartucciu, where municipal police vehicles were set on fire .
Last night, a man, after climbing over the fence, reached the local police headquarters on Via Monte Spada and headed to the parking lot, where he set fire to three police vehicles . He then fled before Carabinieri patrols from the Selargius and Monserrato stations arrived, and began an investigation to identify the perpetrator.
The Cagliari firefighters, who responded immediately to the scene, put out the flames, preventing them from spreading and causing further damage.
Having confirmed the arson of the fire, the Carabinieri have begun an investigation, using images from the video surveillance system covering the entire area. They are also seeking information to reconstruct the possible motive; the municipal administration has reported that it has not received any recent signs that would suggest a similar incident .
Mayor Pietro Pisu took to social media to describe the act as "cowardly and unacceptable, affecting not only the institutions but the entire community." He expressed "firm condemnation" of the act and reassured residents that "the safety of our community will not be compromised by acts of intimidation."
"We will not allow incidents of violence or intimidation to undermine mutual trust and the serenity of daily life. Together, we will react with determination and responsibility," he concludes.
