A Nigerian woman has been arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She was arrested at the Porto Torres port by the Sassari Police Headquarters' Flying Squad, who found a significant quantity of heroin inside her body.
The operation, part of the control services aimed at combating illegal immigration and drug trafficking, began on August 15, during the disembarkation of passengers from the ship from Genoa. The woman, traveling with two compatriots, aroused suspicion due to her agitated state. Following a baggage inspection at the Porto Torres Maritime Police Office, the woman "lost" a white package, which was quickly recovered by officers.
Additional packages had been ingested before departure, some of which were expelled during the crossing and hidden in her private parts to avoid port checks. She was immediately taken to the emergency room at Sassari hospital, where X-rays revealed the presence of 66 ovules in her abdomen and intestines, a concealment method that was dangerous to the health of couriers. Once released, the woman was arrested and transferred to Bancali prison.
