Antonio Falchi (49 years old) and Agata Scarpulla (47 years old) , arrested by the Carabinieri of the Macomer company following a complaint from a citizen and the consequent investigations, have been released from prison.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the two alleged extortionists threatened a person and attempted to extort money to pay off a drug debt. After a trap set by the police, the two were arrested. A house search also found material believed to be explosives in the couple's home.
This morning, the preliminary investigations judge, Cristiana Argiolas, of the Oristano court, found that the conditions were not met to validate the arrest for extortion and possession of explosives of Antonio Falchi of Macomer and his partner, Agata Scarpulla, represented by the lawyer Antonello Spada.
After their arrest by the Carabinieri, the two were held in Massama and Bancali prisons. At yesterday's hearing, it was decided that the arrest of the two was not carried out in accordance with the law and therefore cannot be validated, despite the Carabinieri's reconstruction of the facts.
In the preliminary hearing judge's order, in fact, it is held, for several reasons, that there is no serious evidence of guilt in the facts related to the charge and that the request for the application of the precautionary measure must be rejected.
