The alarm was raised late yesterday evening after the man, 60-year-old Mauro Abis from Sardara, who was on a flight in the area, had not returned.

The 60-year-old's disappearance was reported by a friend who had left with him at 3pm but then lost sight of him during the flight , and who called around 6:30pm to get help.

The immediate intervention on site was by the technicians of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Sardinia and a helicopter of the Decimomannu Air Force . Also on the field were the Coast Guard, the Guardia di Finanza and the firefighters, who guarded the area all night by activating an advanced command post with a UCL (Local Command Unit) vehicle and specialized personnel.

We operate in a vast area and in impervious areas, with SAF (speleo-alpine-fluvial) specialists and the diving unit working in the coastal waters .

Also in flight are the drones of the SAPR (remotely piloted aircraft systems) unit of the Fire Brigade, which are flying over the vast coastal area .
