The countdown can now begin: the town's artisanal activities will soon be able to find hospitality in the former tobacco factory of Arborea .

The Municipality has obtained new funding to complete the renovation, recovery and enhancement of the historic building.

"Following participation in the public notice for a call for tenders by the Region for the infrastructure of areas to be used for the settlement of artisan companies, Arborea was the beneficiary of a loan of 300 thousand euros, to which is added a municipal co-financing of 16 thousand euros - explains the mayor Manuela Pintus - thanks to which the works for the recovery of the central body of the building can be carried out , which will allow the long and arduous recovery work to be completed after a long period of abandonment of the historic site".

The process began in 2018 with the acquisition of the property from the Region. Subsequently, the first batch of works was completed, the body on the left, if observed from the entrance square, for the recovery and redevelopment with funding from the Regional Department of Industry obtained in 2020 and related co-financing from the Municipality.

A year later, in 2021, the municipal administration obtained a second funding for the design and works on the second lot (body on the right). The design is concluded and now thanks to the new resources the final interventions can be entrusted.

"The building, completely renovated, cleared of asbestos cement, equipped with photovoltaic panels, water supply and sewage discharges, once the works are finished - explains Pintus - will be returned to the community to give breathing space to the operators and artisanal businesses, in line with the intended use of the area and with the purposes of the regional funding calls. It is right to thank the offices that have worked up to now to get to this point".
