Punctually, like every year, Animalia raises the barricades against the fireworks display of Stella Maris, the most attended and heartfelt party in Arbatax. "We have submitted to the police station, carabinieri, port authority, local health authority and the municipality of Tortoli the request to move the detonators of the fireworks scheduled for next Sunday to another area", explain the animal rights association chaired by Luciana Carta.
As usual, now tested, the detonators will be positioned on the western pier of the port. «According to WWF estimates - continues the association's spokesperson - every year in Italy at least 5 thousand animals die due to end-of-year attacks. Of these, 80 percent are wild animals, mostly birds. Terrified dogs, cats and other animals may find themselves wandering the streets and being involved in road accidents. The stress induced by the sudden and deafening noise of fireworks and firecrackers is also a cause of death: every year they cause death from heart attacks in around 500 domestic dogs and cats."
The animal rights association concludes with a hope: «That the Municipality adopts an ordinance as soon as possible that prohibits them all year round and that the residents and, above all, the organizers of the festival remember that not only does the feline colony of the port exist , but an infinite number of dogs, cats and other animals who would be seriously inconvenienced by the propagation of such barrels, without taking into account the dust they release into the air."
