Everything is the same, or worse. The strike by workers at the AOU Sassari, scheduled for October 8th and 9th, is approaching, and according to the unions, the situation remains critical , despite discussions with the company. From working conditions to overcrowding to the lack of recognition of contractual rights : these are the issues that, last May 29th, led to the strike call following the mobilization in Sassari.

In all of this, the pressure on the Sassari Hub is evident, which, as reported in a press release, "is paying the price twice. First, it must meet the needs of a vast territory, all of Northern Sardinia (and beyond), due to the de facto dismantling of local hospitals with insufficient acute care beds." Furthermore, there are delays related to certain contractual provisions, which have been denounced several times. And while we're talking about "negotiations that have been stalled for about two years," there's also the issue of economic productivity differentials.

"After the 2024 Employment Plan (DEP) and part of the 2024 productivity freeze," the report states, "today the 2025 Employment Plan (DEP) and 2025 productivity freeze have also been lifted." Healthcare management is also facing a complex situation. "Professionals have been denied recognition for overtime for months, and a significant portion of their salaries have not been paid (due to the failure to pay performance bonuses for 2023, 2024, and 2025)." A growing concern is also being raised: staff shortages. Overcrowding is coupled with a trend of resignations, "which affects both doctors and nurses," and "this is a very serious sign that should seriously concern those who govern the company and regional healthcare." Speaking of "full measure," the unions highlight the increased level of exasperation.

"Regional politics cannot continue to observe and record difficulties that have been dragging on for months," they declare. "It must intervene, take responsibility for its decisions, and create the conditions for this dispute to finally be resolved. We are not asking for solidarity, nor for further reassurance. We are asking for action and decisions because workers and patients can no longer wait."
