The expert opinion of Claudio Dettori was discussed this afternoon in the Court of Appeal in Sassari , sentenced in the first instance to life imprisonment for the death of Antonio Fara , a Sassari bartender killed on 22 April 2021.

According to the psychiatrist Paolo Milia, appointed by the Court, the 26-year-old "was a person capable of understanding and wanting at the time of the events" .

By reconstructing the defendant's personality traits, characterized by "a paranoid and antisocial personological functioning", the professional responded to the other condition required by his examination, that is, whether the young person can consciously participate in the trial. "He is capable of understanding its essence - so Milia - and is perfectly immersed in reality ".

Among the other aspects noted by the psychiatrist "the complete absence of empathy " and the possibility that drugs may have "compromised and aggravated the symptoms" at the time .

The expert report was ordered after defense attorney Giuseppe Onorato found a psychiatric observation conducted on Dettori, at the beginning of the year in Uta prison, in which a disorder "on the schizophrenic spectrum with a paranoid background" was detected.

Even the biased expert's report, requested by the Attorney General Maria Gabriella Pintus and carried out by Professor Petrini, would have reached the same conclusions as Professor Milia and will be discussed at the next hearing in which, probably, the court, presided over by Maria Teresa Lupinu, will also issue the sentence.

At the end of the session Claudio Dettori asked for the obligation to stay , and not having a domicile, he would have asked to have it in via Livorno 6 . That is the house of Antonio Fara, where he was killed and where Dettori was a guest for two months .
