Anti-drug raid in Orgosolo . An illegal cannabis plantation was discovered: 1,500 plants were seized. This morning, Carabinieri officers from the Pratobello squad arrested a 57-year-old man from Orgosolo, allegedly responsible for the illegal cultivation of a large cannabis plantation.

The operation is part of a broader investigation aimed at combating the production and trafficking of narcotics in the Barbagia region . The military had previously identified a very large hemp farm in the Orgosolo countryside, completely devoid of the identifying signs required by current regulations for legal crops.

To identify the perpetrator, the military set up a surveillance operation in the area until dawn on August 5th, when the suspect entered the plantation. After the military ordered a halt, the man attempted a daring escape through the thick vegetation , but was captured after a brief chase.

Subsequent investigations allowed us to quantify the extent of the illicit cultivation: approximately 1,500 hemp plants in various stages of maturation, many of which already had visible inflorescences.

Laboratory analyses, promptly performed by the Cagliari RIS, confirmed the drug's intoxicating nature, detecting an active ingredient (THC) well above the legal limit. The person responsible has been placed under house arrest, while the entire plantation, which has been seized, will be destroyed once the sampling is complete, ensuring a permanent presence in the area until the operations are concluded.
