There is a fifth suspect in the investigation into the robbery and murder of Leonardo Mocci, the 23-year-old from Villacidro killed with a gunshot to the chest on the night of April 22nd and 23rd in Piazza Settimio Severo in Monserrato. Public prosecutors Enrico Lussu and Diana Lecca, who are in charge of the case, have notified the dual charges to Cristian Vacca, 22, from Selargius, whose home was also searched by the Carabinieri. It's currently impossible to determine what role investigators believe he played. And that's not all, because according to some rumors, investigators are also about to provide the Prosecutor's Office with the name of a sixth person to investigate.
The investigation
Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that Cristian Vacca was present in Piazza Settimio Severo when Leonardo Mocci was killed. The hypothesis, however, is that his DNA was found on some cigarette butts that RIS investigators have isolated and are currently analyzing in the San Bartolomeo laboratories. It's possible that the young man from Selargius passed by before the robbery and murder, so only the second part of the unique technical investigations will be able to clarify the situation.
The purchase
The victim, along with his friend and fellow villager Filippo Frau, allegedly went to the Monserrato meeting point to purchase approximately 3 kilos of hashish for €10,000. There, the trap was sprung, ending in tragedy. By order of the preliminary investigations judge, following a request from prosecutors Lussu and Lecca, Judge Claudia Sechi ordered the pre-trial detention of brothers Gianmarco and Filippo Tunis, from Pirri, aged 24 and 20 respectively, as well as Daniel Campus, 22, from Quartu, believed to be the mastermind of the ambush. Campus has changed his defense attorney and will be represented by Herika Dessì.
The investigation
It remains unclear who actually pulled the trigger and the possible roles of all the suspects. Meanwhile , Riccardo Floris, the lawyer representing the Tunis brothers, has also filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of Cassation against the Court of Review's decision to uphold the precautionary measure against his clients. Nicholas Minio had previously filed a similar appeal through his lawyers Stefano Piras and Roberto Peara. The victim's family is being represented by Fabio Basile.
