Those bones sat in a geneticist's closet for four years. Then, a magistrate remembered their existence and turned them over to the Ris: it took the Army scientists just two days to give an answer.

The bones belong to Luigi Dessì , the 74-year-old pensioner from Armungia who passed away on 25 June seven years ago in San Vito. Despite a large deployment of forces (a helicopter and some drones were also used), as told by Gianfranco Piscitelli , the lawyer who chairs "Penelope Sardegna", the association that deals with missing people, the man was never found. Then, four years ago, a mushroom hunter came across some human remains. Those bones remained without an owner for a long time.

Until the recognition this week: Dessì will finally be able to have a burial. The funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday or Thursday in Armungia.
