Two racing areas , a main one in front of Capo Sant'Elia and Lazzaretto and a "reserve" one , in front of the Giorgino coast, ready to be used depending on the weather and sea conditions . This is what is contained in the order issued by the Cagliari Coast Guard in view of the long-awaited preliminary regatta of the 38th America's Cup, scheduled to take place in Cagliari.

The measure , signed by Rear Admiral Giovanni Stella , regulates navigational safety during the event, which will bring thousands of enthusiasts and dozens of boats to the capital. The first area identified is a large circular "Precautionary Area" with a radius of two kilometers off Capo Sant'Elia . The race course will be located within this area, marked by buoys and completely off-limits to unauthorized vessels. The second area has been set up off Capo Giorgino and can be used by the organizers in the event of adverse weather and sea conditions. Three sub-zones (each delimited by a different color) will also be created around the race course, dedicated to authorized boats, recreational boaters, and areas completely off-limits.

The measure, issued following specific discussions with the organizing company and previously shared with the Prefecture of Cagliari and all other relevant authorities responsible for ensuring the necessary safety framework, will be part of the operational plan to be signed in the coming days. This plan will see the Operations Room of the 13th MRSC (Maritime Rescue Sub Center) as the coordination center for all naval vessels deployed to protect human life at sea and ensure navigational safety. Specifically, eight Coast Guard vessels and three Fire Brigade vessels will also carry medical personnel. These vessels will also be joined by naval vessels from the Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri, and State Police, aimed at ensuring public order and safety.

The ordinance also imposes strict rules for those wishing to attend the event : anchoring in the Precautionary Area, sailing, or placing boats side by side are prohibited. Only motorized transit is permitted, at minimum steering speed. Stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks are also prohibited. At the end of the regattas, and in any case by 6:00 PM, all boats must vacate the area.
