The Maristella hamlet, in the municipality of Alghero, continues to suffer the discomfort of non-standard drinking water. A problem that has been presenting itself recurrently for some years now. The last mayoral ordinance prohibiting the use of water for food purposes is from June 24th. Since that date, uninterruptedly, an entire community of about 450 residents has been deprived, for food use, of what is considered a basic necessity.

"The Abbanoa tanker service has numerous shortcomings, either because following various unspeakable interruptions in supply, it leaves residents without water for food use for days, such as during the recent Christmas holidays," explains the president of the Borgata Committee, Tonina Desogos, "or because the service is not usable by various groups of residents, such as those who work during the hours in which the tanker is present, those who belong to the weakest groups of residents, such as the elderly and people with health problems, who for obvious reasons cannot reach the place where the tanker is parked, much less carry excessive weight."

Therefore, the village committee, which in recent months has had constant discussions with the mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, with various municipal administrators, with the ASL technicians and with Abbanoa itself, in order to take stock of the situation has called a general assembly of the inhabitants at the former nursery school, for 6:30 pm on Saturday 11 January 2025.

"We hope for the presence of the mayor, all the municipal administrators (majority and opposition), the Abbanoa managers and the local media," adds President Desogos, "to whom, also with this press release, we extend a public invitation in order to have a direct constructive discussion with the inhabitants of Maristella who are suffering this enormous inconvenience, despite regularly paying the bills issued by Abbanoa when due."
