Following the World Triathlon Championship Series, major international triathlon remains a key event in Alghero. The Sardinian city will also host the Ironman 70.3 circuit event, scheduled for Sunday, June 7. The Italian Triathlon Federation and Ironman, with the support of the Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, have formalized a memorandum of understanding that strengthens Italy's role in the international multi-discipline scene, with the aim of promoting sports and strengthening the development of the sport in the region.

"The Ironman circuit is the most challenging event for thousands of participants who will travel from all over the world to compete in this specialty, accessible only to athletes with above-average physical and mental abilities. It requires physique, mentality, endurance, and talent to be utilized to the fullest in the 113 kilometers of swimming, cycling, and running. Once again, Italy is at the center of the sporting world," said Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth.

Riccardo Giubilei, president of Fitri, emphasizes that "Alghero marks the beginning of a new chapter in the growth of Italian triathlon on the international stage. The city will host approximately 2,800 athletes for the Ironman 70.3, in a context that will see the collaboration of the Italian Triathlon Federation and the support of national and local institutions."
