A dramatic accident occurred at dawn this morning in Alghero, along the SS291, near the intersection with the Calich bypass. It was 5:28 a.m. when, following a report from the 118 operations center, a Carabinieri radio patrol responded to a vehicle that had gone off the road.

According to initial reconstructions, a 51-year-old man, Antonello Sanna, a resident of Santa Maria La Palma , was traveling alone in his Volkswagen Golf when, for reasons still under investigation but likely related to high speed , he lost control of the vehicle. The car left the roadway and ended up in agricultural land at the edge of the road, overturning several times.

The impact was extremely violent: Sanna was thrown from the vehicle, dying instantly. In addition to emergency services, law enforcement arrived on the scene to conduct an investigation and secure the area. No other vehicles were involved. Investigations are ongoing to reconstruct the exact details of the incident.

Antonello Sanna, a mechanic by profession, ran a workshop in the San Marco industrial area. A keen motorcycle enthusiast , he was a member of the Rebotteris Motoclub group. He leaves behind two teenage children.
