Alghero, the facade of the former Santa Chiara Hospital (now the Architecture Department) is falling to pieces.
Precarious conditions also for the Torre della Polveriera and some cannons placed on the Bastions, the complaint of councilor MulasPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The former Santa Chiara Hospital, home to the Faculty of Architecture in Alghero, is in dire condition, and the president of the 5th Council Commission, Christian Mulas, is appealing to Mayor Cacciotto to take urgent action.
"Almost ten months have passed since the first reports, and despite press releases, public interventions, and even a formal inquiry, the situation has not only not improved, but appears further compromised. The building's façade is clearly in disrepair and disrepair, presenting an unsightly and humiliating image for Alghero ," Mulas explains. "We're talking about a structure of extraordinary historical, cultural, and architectural value," the city councilor recalls, "located in the highly prized historic center, handed over, along with other municipal buildings, to the then-nascent Alghero academic center. A strategic investment for the city's cultural and economic future, which today risks being undermined by neglect and inaction ."
Added to this situation are the precarious conditions of the Torre della Polveriera and the critical issues affecting several cannons located on the Bastions, in points of extraordinary importance, visibility, and transit. This combination of issues risks compromising the city's image just as a new tourist season approaches. For these reasons, the president of the Fifth Commission once again appeals to the city's highest authority, the mayor of Alghero, "to take urgent action, promoting a working group among all the entities involved and identifying clear responsibilities and specific timeframes for intervention."
