Swimming is prohibited at Punta Negra, the coastline north of the city, in the hamlet of Fertilia.

Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, having acknowledged the memo sent by ARPA Sardegna reporting the "out-of-bounds" presence of enterococci, signed the ordinance prohibiting bathing.

We are now awaiting the results of additional sampling scheduled for Friday, July 11, to verify whether the limits are still met.

Residents, beachgoers, and tourism entrepreneurs hope so. The splendid bay is overlooked by high-end accommodations, and the closure of beach services won't be good news for guests staying in sea-view rooms.
