Sant'Agostino at the center of a program intended to give new life to the Alghero neighborhood with a significant investment that the Cacciotto council wants to find to change the face of one of the most popular areas of the city.
The executive has decided to join the public notice of urban regeneration of the Sardinia Region , proposing a 2 million euro redevelopment project called “Urban regeneration of the Sant'Agostino district”. On the proposal of the Councilors for Urban Planning and Public Works, Roberto Corbia and Francesco Marinaro, the Municipality of Alghero wants to plan a major restyling of the district with an intervention conceived and designed for the regeneration of the historic complex built in the post-war period, conceived as a real part of the city.
There will be four functional lots that will have to put the Administration's program into practice, starting with the first, the redevelopment of Largo Costantino, already underway since 2023. Three more will be added to this first project, which will make up a broader regeneration program wanted by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto. The project will therefore see the redevelopment of the open space in front of the Church of Sant'Agostino with the aim of creating a pedestrian square in front of the churchyard, the creation of the open-air Urban Park in Largo Guillot, and the last lot, which concerns the overall reorganization of the road system and the parking and pedestrian areas in Largo Era, Largo Ballero and Largo Costantino, enhancing the system of greenery and existing trees.
