The summer season is coming to a close, with police on the front lines, including in the Municipality of Alghero, ensuring legality, safety, and public order. Despite the large number of residents, tourists, and municipalities under the jurisdiction of the Alghero Police Station, the extraordinary efforts of the officers ensured a peaceful summer, marked by respect for the rules. Increased local patrols have led to a tangible increase in residents' sense of safety and a drastic reduction in predatory crimes, especially on beaches and in peripheral areas.
In the two-month period from July to August, approximately 4,500 people and 2,000 vehicles were checked, resulting in 24 reports and 4 arrests . Among the most notable operations were the arrest in flagrante delicto of a foreign national found with over a kilo of cocaine divided into 80 packets, and the arrest of two individuals responsible for car thefts in rest areas on the Alghero beaches, who were stopped on August 15th after being tailed.
The stolen goods, moreover, were fully returned to their rightful owners. In addition to crime prevention, the Police Department has intensified administrative controls on businesses and hospitality establishments, issuing fines, penalties, and inspections on nightclubs and nightclubs often improperly used as dance halls. Significant action was taken by the Sassari Police Chief to close a business frequented by criminals and responsible for disturbing the peace.
A comprehensive action which, the police explain , was not only repressive, but also aimed at re-establishing legality and respect for the rules, to protect citizens, tourists and business owners.
