«I wish to express my deep regret for the decision to permanently close the hospital chapel , and I fervently ask that a solution be found that preserves, albeit in a reduced form, this space of comfort for patients and their families».
Alberto Bamonti, former city councilor in Alghero and current vice president of Confassociazioni Sardegna with responsibility for Development, Strategic Planning and Social Policies in Local Authorities, launches the appeal to the director of the civil hospital of Alghero, following the closure of the small church "a precious refuge for those who find themselves facing pain and uncertainty".
A small place where patients can find a moment of peace. "I understand the logistical and organizational needs of the hospital, but I am convinced that it is possible to find a solution that does not imply the total closure of the chapel," he adds. "I am also keen to avoid what has already happened at the Marino hospital, where the chapel was dismantled and the Madonna relegated to a closet. This event has caused great sadness among patients and staff, and I hope that a compromise can be found here that allows us to maintain a space for spiritual recollection."
Alberto Bamonti's invitation is that the hospital can promote an initiative that reconciles organizational needs and the spiritual well-being of patients , "in line with the mission of humanity that every hospital should represent".
