Fears erupted overnight in Alghero following a fire that broke out in an apartment on Viale Europa. The alarm was raised around 4:30 a.m. today, Monday, September 21, when a firefighter team from the Via Napoli detachment, fortunately just a few hundred meters away, responded to extinguish the flames that had broken out on the apartment's terrace. The firefighters' timely intervention prevented the blaze from spreading to the entire apartment. Damage was limited to a few walls, but the fire produced significant smoke. The foreign residents were immediately evacuated and handed over to the care of 118 emergency medical personnel who responded to the scene. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and the firefighters are currently investigating.
