Persecutory partner or unjustly accused husband. This is the dilemma surrounding a 40-year-old man from Alghero who is on trial for mistreatment . According to the charges, he harassed his wife from 2020 to 2023 with death threats, insults, and damage to household furnishings .

A relationship, as prosecutor Antonio Piras reported in the hearing, peppered with phrases like "I'll kill you! I'll set the house on fire!" According to the prosecution's reconstruction, these behaviors forced the woman to leave the home , fearful also of the threats the defendant allegedly made to the injured party's new partner, who had withdrawn from the relationship.

The prosecutor had requested a two-year prison sentence, and in line with these conclusions, the plaintiff's lawyer, Barbara Pirisi, recounted the charges against the man. These included throwing a coffee table and the alleged influence of one of the couple's children , who allegedly prevented the woman, on several occasions, from going up to the apartment. The house itself was a key point of contention, and the lawyer noted that her client, given the reported incidents, had been unable to return. Pirisi finally requested €30,000 in damages for her client, and €5,000 in provisional damages. Defense lawyer Elias Vacca argued that the charges were neither founded nor confirmed.

According to the lawyer, nothing had been proven against his client, while in his opinion the origin of the complaints by the injured party had actually been aimed at obtaining the man's accommodation and money.

Yesterday in court in Sassari, judge Paolo Bulla ordered the acquittal of the accused because the fact does not exist .
