The press conference to present Correllengua Agermanat will be held on Wednesday, March 25th at 10:00 a.m., in Mayor Cacciotto's room in Piazza Porta Terra, Alghero. The event will also be an opportunity to unveil the program for the 2026 edition of the Festa de Sant Joan de la Porta Llatina , one of the most iconic events for the Alghero community.

The Correllengua Agermanat is a non-profit cultural initiative that symbolically unites Catalan-speaking territories. The event will begin on April 19th in Prada, Northern Catalonia, and travel through Catalonia, the Valencian Country, and the Balearic Islands, carrying the "flame of the Catalan language" until arriving in Alghero on May 5th. It is not a race, but a symbolic run that promotes the use of the language and strengthens the bond between Catalan-speaking peoples.

The meeting will also provide a detailed overview of the events related to the Festa de Sant Joan de la Porta Llatina, an ancient celebration rooted in the city's history. This event, documented for centuries and interrupted in 1848, commemorates the victory of the people of Alghero against the troops of the Viscount of Narbonne on the night of May 5-6, 1412. Since 2022, thanks to the efforts of the Obra Cultural de l'Alguer and the Plataforma per la Llengua, the festival has been revived and relaunched as a central event for celebrating Alghero's identity, language, and historical memory.
