« Alghero airport ? If joint programming is missing, let it return to the public ».
The president of the regional council, Michele Pais , is not ready to see the Coral Riviera become the "Cinderella" of the Sardinian airports.
" All three airports must have equal dignity - warns Pais - none can play a gregarious role".
Ports and airports , especially on an island, explains Pais, «are above all "social" infrastructures , as well as being the most important from an economic point of view. No preconceived position, but the need to ensure a direction of the "public system", with the Region in the lead, to guarantee the pre-eminent general interest, the right to mobility, must be reaffirmed ».
In 2016, the previous junta sold the F2i fund 72% of the shares of Alghero airport, managed by Sogeaal, at a price of around 9.6 million euros. "At the same time, the Council approved 5.8 million euros in public funding for the airport, a part to pay off the redundancy, the rest to reconstitute the share capital pertaining to the Region" recalls the president of the Regional Council of Sardinia. "An operation which, in the light of the events, could be reconsidered if deemed necessary".
Beyond the quotas, according to Pais, the Region remains the major shareholder , because it has financed important structural interventions . Even the councilor for transport Antonio Moro, on the occasion of the mobilization at the airport organized by the Province of Sassari, Tips (institutional table and social partners) and the Metropolitan Network, hypothesized the acquisition of the Alghero airport, in a provocative but not too much .
