He entered the offices of the Social Services of Alghero in the middle of the night, with some suitcases, to find shelter from the storm and because he intended to ask for accommodation.
Discovered by the local police, the man violently elbowed one of the officers, injuring him in the face. He was then immobilized . Then the discovery: in his backpack he had a katana, a Japanese sword, inside the case, which was immediately seized.
On site, in addition to the local police, also the mayor Raimondo Cacciotto and the president of the Health commission Christian Mulas.
The injured officer was taken to the emergency room with a suspected broken nasal septum. The man is now staying at a bed and breakfast.
"An unacceptable attack, which could have had worse and more tragic outcomes. I express my total solidarity with the injured local police officer and with all the Social Services staff, as well as all the municipal staff, increasingly exposed to episodes of violence that remain, too often, unpunished", commented the leader of the Lega Michele Pais .
"The issue of security in Alghero has become an emergency that requires a change of pace and greater commitment from the Administration," Pais insists, recalling that he has long since presented a motion on security, currently stalled in the Council, which provides for greater controls on the territory, a strengthening of the Local Police staff and, above all, the provision of tasers for officers.
