A public complaint reignites the debate over Alghero's housing crisis. City councilor and president of the Fifth Council Committee, Christian Mulas, intervenes, calling for an urgent joint meeting to clarify the rankings for public housing.
At the heart of the case is the report of a desperate mother who has been waiting for nearly seven years for public housing, despite facing serious housing hardship and having a child with a disability. According to the family, instead of improving her ranking on the housing list, she has actually seen her score decline. Mulas is calling for an immediate investigation. He is asking the city administration and the president of the 4th Social Services Committee to convene a dedicated meeting to review the criteria, procedures, and functioning of the public housing rankings.
"Rent," Mulas observes, "has reached unsustainable levels for many families, while purchasing a home has become increasingly difficult due to rising prices and difficulties in accessing credit." Added to this, according to Mulas, is the slowdown in public housing developments. The project planned for the Carrabuffas area has reportedly never begun, while construction in Carragol is reportedly stalled, despite the increased demand for social housing.
