A husband and wife, both from Sassari, who were riding a motorcycle towards Fertilia, were seriously injured in the crash and were rushed to the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari.
The accident occurred this afternoon, Wednesday, August 5 , at the roundabout between Strada dei Due Mari, Maria Pia, and Via Burruni , one of the main access points to the city. For reasons still under investigation, the car driven by a man collided with the motorcycle.
The impact was very violent, and the two occupants of the two-wheeled vehicle were thrown onto the asphalt, suffering serious injuries. Emergency medical services responded quickly to the scene and, after providing first aid, arranged for both injured people to be taken to Sassari Hospital with critical injuries . According to investigators' initial reconstruction, the driver of the car did not stop after the accident and disappeared. Law enforcement immediately began a search to identify him and reconstruct the exact sequence of events. The investigation was carried out by Alghero local police officers, coordinated by Commander Salvatore Masala.
