A Carabiniere is charged with aggravated theft of €150. The officer has just received notice of the conclusion of the investigation, which began last May following an incident in Alghero.

According to the charges, a Gambian national had gone shopping at a supermarket, placed his wallet on a shelf while picking up a case of beer, and forgotten it there. After a short while, realizing it was missing , he went to look for it, but in the meantime, it had disappeared along with 150 euros, his documents, and his credit cards .

That same day, a man went to the African's home, introducing himself as a Carabinieri officer and claiming to have found the wallet near the business but without the money. He then told the non-EU citizen to go to the police station to have the search for the item called off.

The surveillance cameras, both those positioned on the Gambian man's home street and those in the shop's building, later examined by law enforcement, consistently detected the soldier, over 50, even when he was taking the wallet.

The file is held by Angelo Beccu, the civil party's lawyer is Filippo Carta, while the Carabiniere's lawyer is Maria Raffaella Sanna.
