It wasn't a tombstone. There's no doubt, at least for now, about the merger of Sardinia's airports, a privatization wholeheartedly embraced by the Democratic Party-M5S coalition. But that same government amendment, which the day before yesterday halted the €30 million allocation to increase the Region's stake to 9.25% in the future single management holding company, thwarts the signing of the "binding agreements" with F2i Ligantia and the Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari and Oristano (Cciaa), operator of the Mameli airport in the capital, the only one remaining in public hands on the island and destined to fall under the control of the fund. This is according to the plans of Todde and his allies, also contested by the former president of the Regional Council, Michele Pais.

We need to go back to June 8th to understand the impact of the Sardinian government's surprise decision . That day, two months ago, the regional councilor for transport, Barbara Manca, spoke at a meeting of the Cagliari city council dedicated to the airport merger.

It was then that the Council's plan became known, "in ten phases: we are between points two and three, to reach the signing of the binding agreements," Manca said. That is, a definitive term sheet, with the officialization of the shares for each shareholder, both majority and minority. Although it was never understood why the capital was distributed as early as March, well before "the shareholding valuations were updated," as the preliminary agreement stipulates in Point 25. On June 8th, the step was missing. But it had been official for months that the Region held 9.25%, the Chamber of Commerce held 40.5%, and F2i held 50.25%, the councilor explained.
