"There can be no gray area regarding the merger of Sardinia's airports." Michele Pais, city councilor and former president of the Regional Council, also weighed in on the debate over a single company to manage the airports.

Pais calls for clarity on content and guarantees. "The future of the airport system is being decided without transparency and without a genuine dialogue with the local communities," he accuses, referring to the leaks regarding the so-called "confidential dossier." "If it were confirmed that relevant documents were only forwarded to a portion of the Regional Council, we would be faced with a serious violation of democratic rules. Likewise, any clauses that could encourage speculative operations by private individuals are of great concern."

Pais clarifies that he is not opposed to integration, "but we need clear rules, territorial protections, and immediate public debate."
