The heatwave is entering its most brutal phase. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14, and lasting at least four days, Sardinia will be a furnace with highs exceeding 37 degrees Celsius everywhere and, in some areas, even above 45 degrees.

The regional Civil Protection has issued a weather alert valid from 9am tomorrow until 6pm on Friday 17 July .

A subtropical anticyclone originating from North Africa is carrying very warm air masses from the Algerian desert towards the Mediterranean and the island, a flow of heat that will affect Sardinia for at least four days.

The Civil Protection warning states that "at least until the late evening of Friday, July 17," widespread high temperatures above 37 degrees are expected throughout Sardinia. In inland areas, highs will even reach 40 to 43 degrees, with peaks above 45 in the Ottana Valley, Logudoro, and Campidano .

Cagliari , the Ministry of Health's heatwave bulletin today marked a yellow alert, which will be increased to orange for tomorrow and Wednesday . This level, the ministry explains, indicates weather conditions that may pose a health risk, particularly among the most susceptible population groups (the elderly, children and infants, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, people, including young people, who engage in intense physical exercise, people who regularly take medication or use alcohol and drugs, as well as people with reduced mobility or mental or neurological disorders).
