The advance of the African anticyclone has been confirmed in Italy and will bring a peak of heat between Wednesday 19th and Friday 21st June in some areas with temperatures even more than 12 degrees above the climatological norm.

Up to 44 degrees expected in the internal areas of Sardinia and 39 degrees in Rome on Thursday 20 June.

The North was also affected, which until now had experienced relatively cool phases. Some storms will return on Friday. Describing the scenario of this first heat wave of the 2024 summer edition is Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist of the website www.iLMeteo.it.

« The hottest area during the mid-week peak will be the Cagliari area with over 40 degrees, while the ranking of the hottest provinces will see Benevento and Taranto at the top with 41°C; Agrigento, Caserta, Foggia, Macerata, Syracuse and Terni with 40°C. The degrees will be 39 in Ascoli Piceno, Catania, Fermo, Frosinone, Matera and Ragusa while Avellino, Chieti, Forlì, Isernia and, in particular, also Rome and Naples will fluctuate between 38 and 39".
