Another tragedy on the roads of Sulcis. A man lost his life yesterday shortly after 9:30 PM in a horrific collision on State Road 126, between San Giovanni Suergiu and Sant'Antioco, near the Santa Caterina power plant. The victim is Alessandro Sulas, 41, from Sant'Antioco.

According to an initial reconstruction, the 41-year-old was aboard a Fiat Punto with a friend and fellow villager (it's still unclear who was behind the wheel, but it appears to be Sulas) when, at a long curve, their car, headed toward San Giovanni Suergiu, struck a Peugeot 3008 coming from the opposite direction from the sides . The collision was apparently triggered by a lane invasion; it's still unclear which of the two vehicles was responsible. The only certainty is that after the impact, the Fiat Punto skidded wildly, spinning around and ending up off the road. The crash into some large trees on the side of the road was horrific. Alessandro Sulas died instantly, while his friend suffered multiple injuries but never lost consciousness . The driver of the other car involved was virtually unharmed.
