Carla Pisani, the seventy-five year old from Siena, who was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon after a motorbike fall in which her husband, Vittorio Mariotti, aged 77, who was driving the vehicle, lost his life, did not make it.
The accident occurred on the Sp 10 M, in the Bottidda area.
The woman had been hospitalized in desperate conditions at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari, where she died a few hours later, but the news only became known today.
The couple were part of a group of motorcyclists who were sightseeing in northern Sardinia. On Saturday afternoon, around 4.30pm, the man lost control of the T-Max scooter, ending up on the asphalt. The seventy-seven-year-old died instantly. The rescue efforts of 118 and the firefighters were of no avail. His wife, however, had been transported to Sassari.
According to the findings of the Carabinieri of the Bono Company, who also heard the versions of the witnesses, the fall could be attributed either to an illness or to the driver falling asleep.
