After four days, tomorrow the national exercise involving 340 women and men of the firefighters of the provincial commands of Oristano, Cagliari, Sassari and Nuoro will end. "An important and necessary activity to train, in times of peace, for the most varied emergencies" commented the regional commander Nicola Micele.

The Abbasanta fire brigade detachment is the logistical base of the exercise with the operations room, where the reports and coordination points of the various operations arrive. "This territory lends itself well to the simulation: here there is the lake, the woods, a quarry, the dam and ruined houses - he added - but the territory so-called stressed by the disaster is that of Nuoro, it is as if the exercise was taking place in Barbagia". In reality there is nothing simulated, on the field everything is realistic and no detail is overlooked.

The theatres of intervention were the most diverse: the fire in a house, with the intervention of the experts in unconventional rescue of the Nuclear Biological Chemical Radiological unit due to the presence of asbestos.

And again the diving unit searches for a person who ended up in the lake while trying to escape the fire; the helicopter unit was also used, the drones with the personnel of the Sapr (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems), the Gos (Special Operations Group) experts with earth-moving vehicles and also ordinary teams, the Usar (Urban Search and Rescue) teams to search for people in a ruined house. Finally the specialists of the Saf (Alpine Fluvial Speleo) unit descended from the Santa Chiara dam for other rescue operations. The Tas (Topography Applied to Rescue) units, the canine units, the telecommunications unit were essential to guarantee communications in the training area.
