Kidnapped. Confined to her home for ten days. Beaten and threatened. Forced to eat food left on the floor and, at times, trampled on. Shaved her head as punishment. Drugged and sexually abused. Horrifying details emerge from the case, which the Sassari court records list as kidnapping, torture, assault, domestic violence, and resisting a public official.

The victim is a twenty-three-year-old woman from Sassari. Her tormentor, according to the prosecution that landed her in prison (the sentence was confirmed today), is her 34-year-old boyfriend, also from Sassari.

The alarm was raised on the evening of February 6th by the girl's mother. The young woman hadn't returned home, and she explained to the police that she might be at her partner's house in Santa Maria di Pisa.

The officers, after several attempts on the intercom, entered through the window with the help of the firefighters. The young woman was inside: very shaken, she said she had been held against her will for 10 days. She said she had been beaten, as was evident from the cuts and bruises.

The Carabinieri officers determined that the relationship between the two had been in crisis for three months and that the suspect had been throwing objects at her, abusing and humiliating her in every way, insulting her, pushing her, hitting her in various parts of her body, and even stubbing out several cigarettes on her forearms.

During the 10 days of her captivity, the girl had been given little food, and what she was given was either thrown on the floor, spat on, or trampled on. The victim also said she was repeatedly threatened with disfigurement with acid and forced to drink bleach. Her boyfriend also allegedly cut off a lock of her hair with a razor. He also administered psychotropic drugs to her in order to sexually abuse her.

The woman's statement is part of a complaint filed with the Carabinieri. The woman was hospitalized and placed in a support center for victims of gender-based violence. The suspect was arrested on Saturday morning, and today, during preliminary hearings, investigating judge Sergio De Luca confirmed the pre-trial detention order.
