Teams of Abbanoa workers are at work in the municipality of Florinas to build a new well to increase water supply to the town center , currently served exclusively by springs that are particularly in crisis during this period of drought.
The lack of a possible supply from a water purification plant convinced Abbanoa technicians of the need to quickly build a new well.
A project strongly supported by Mayor Enrico Lobino, who had long been alarmed by the situation at the springs, and authorized in record time thanks to the collaboration of the Metropolitan City's Special Commissioner, Gavino Arru, the new well should guarantee a sufficient supply to secure Florinas' water service.
Excavation work began today in the S'Ena area, where there are other wells serving private individuals, making it highly likely that sufficient quantities will be pumped to meet the town's needs. The work is expected to last approximately 10 days, and after the necessary analysis to ensure it is suitable for human consumption, the water will be connected to the reservoir and the town's mains.
"This is an important project, strongly supported by the administration, which partially resolves the profound crisis affecting our springs," commented Florinas Mayor Enrico Lobino. He added: "Some structural improvements are still needed that will significantly improve the distribution of this precious resource, water. I thank Commissioner Gavino Arru for the swift approval process and the Abbanoa Board of Directors, who listened to Florinas' requests. I also thank my fellow citizens, who have patiently endured more than a year of water rationing."
