First, the wild night of speeding through a memorial service. Then came the violent outbursts and threats against traffic police and Carabinieri who attempted to stop him, and finally, his arrest.

It was a Sunday to forget for Symon Corda, 41, originally from San Gavino and resident in San Nicolò d'Arcidano. But it didn't end there: on Monday morning, when he should have been under house arrest awaiting his fast-track trial, the 41-year-old was at a bar having breakfast. Thus, the charge of escape was added to those of receiving stolen goods, threats, and resisting arrest. Two days ago, the hearing to validate the arrest was held in court; prosecutor Daniela Muntoni requested custody, but Judge Paola Bussu ordered house arrest with an electronic bracelet for the 41-year-old, represented by lawyer Barbara Corda. The hearing was adjourned until Monday the 22nd.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Marrubiu, during the commemoration of Carabinieri General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa. Suddenly, Symon Corda, driving a Fiat Doblò (stolen two days earlier), sped down the street where the ceremony was taking place. Local police officers from the Terralbese Union, busy regulating traffic, attempted to stop him and were grazed by the car. They then managed to subdue him, and while demanding his documents, Corda went into a rage, uttering serious threats : "You'd better run away. If I get away, I'll kill you." During the breathalyzer test, he attacked the commander of the Marrubiu Carabinieri, grabbing him by the neck.
