The 37-year-old Sudanese citizen held by the Oristano police at the Cor di Macomer prison has numerous definitive convictions for resisting a public official and personal injury, illegal possession of weapons, illegal entry and residence, failure to comply with an order to leave the national territory, continued aggravated theft and continued damage , refusal to provide information about his personal identity and sexual assault .

The man was identified by patrol officers during a check and found to be undocumented and without a registered address. Taken to the police station for checks, he attempted to escape through a window but was stopped by officers. The 37-year-old threatened the officers and pushed one of them.

Subsequent checks conducted by the immigration office revealed all of his previous convictions , as well as his request for international protection. Given his dangerousness, "the Police Chief of the Province of Oristano has therefore ordered his detention at a repatriation center pending the decision on his asylum application by the competent Territorial Commission of Cagliari."

Over the past six months, the Immigration Office of the Oristano Police Headquarters, police explain, "has executed 15 expulsion and removal orders against as many foreign and EU citizens who are illegally staying or considered socially dangerous. Furthermore, four foreign citizens seeking international protection were also held at the CPR because they were deemed dangerous."
