Serious accident on state highway 196, on the Villasor ring road.
The head-on collision occurred between a Smart car driven by a young man and a minivan driven by an older person who was probably on his way to work.
The reconstruction is under investigation; there are no skid marks on the asphalt.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and extracted the young man from the wreckage of the Smart and handed him over to a team of emergency responders . His condition is critical; he was intubated and rushed to Brotzu Hospital. The driver of the van was also in critical condition, but was conscious when rescued.
Three ambulances and the Carabinieri intervened to carry out surveys and ascertain the exact dynamics.
The road was closed in both directions.
