Fully electric scooters will be available to residents and tourists. They will also be allowed to enter restricted traffic zones. The Cagliari City Council, acting on a proposal from Councilor Yuri Marcialis, has approved guidelines for the tender process for scooter sharing in the city . The service, in its pilot phase, will include a fleet of 20 shared, free-flowing vehicles. There are several advantages: individual, due to cost containment and the absence of vehicle maintenance expenses, and environmental, due to reduced pollution and reduced use of public space. The aim of the tender, which provides for a five-year concession, is to identify market participants interested in operating the service.
The city executive also approved, on the proposal of the councilor Luisa Giua Marassi, urgent measures for maritime safety in the areas off the beaches and coastlines of the area . The resolution, which follows the motions and agendas approved by the City Council, calls for increased enforcement, in consultation with the Coast Guard, the Port Authority, and all relevant authorities, particularly along the stretch of coast between Marina Piccola and Calamosca, where there is a significant concentration of bathers, including in areas where, despite the ban, boats moor illegally or pass with their engines running, dangerously overlapping with the designated bathing area.
The approach and mooring of vessels just a few meters from the coast poses a public safety hazard, endangering swimmers, canoeists, and those using canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and other equipment. The presence of vessels too close to the coast also has a negative environmental impact on the seabed, damaging valuable habitats and contributing to the erosion of the natural balance in areas that constitute delicate ecosystems. Buoys will also be positioned in front of the Sant'Elia beach and the Stabulario beach.
The Sports and Leisure department will then proceed to develop a project for dedicated open-water swimming lanes, specifically at the first Poetto stop and along the Sant'Elia seafront.
Finally, a 95% reduction in the fee for the use of public land for book presentations held in the city's streets, squares, and public spaces was approved. Organizers, which may include businesses, cultural associations, established or spontaneous committees, authors, and publishers, must obtain the patronage of the Municipality and the event must be completely free of charge for participants.
