A transgender woman arrested in Sassari accuses law enforcement of homophobia.

Last night in Porta Sant'Antonio, a 35-year-old Colombian woman, returning from the beach, stopped in the square and started listening to loud music on a portable speaker. The sound bothered the owner of a bar in the square, who, unable to get the volume reduced, called the State Police, who promptly arrived in a patrol car.

The officers, who believed the suspect was drunk, asked the trans woman to show her identification, which she didn't have. She showed her a photograph on her cell phone. The officers told her they would take her to the police station for further investigation, but she fought back, and a fight ensued, in which she allegedly kicked and insulted the four officers, even calling them "racists."

At the police station, according to the charges, he threw a bracelet at an officer, causing him injuries that were reported within four days, while for a colleague the injuries, due to neck pain, were two days.

Today in court, during a summary hearing, Judge Stefania Mosca-Angelucci confirmed the arrest of the transsexual, a woman with no criminal record and represented by lawyer Sabrina Falchi, and also ordered that the suspect be released without restrictions.

Prosecutor Antonio Piras had requested a ban on residence in the city.
