A partial truce has been called for in the fires in Sardinia , where twelve blazes were recorded across the region today. Two of these required the intervention of the regional fleet's aircraft.
In the municipality of Ales , in the Perda Casteddu area, operations to extinguish the large fire that broke out on July 19 are still underway . The operations are coordinated by personnel from the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps of the local station, with the support of helicopters from the CFVA bases of Sorgono and Villasalto. On the ground, three teams from the Forestas Agency, from the construction sites of Morgongiori, Villaurbana, and Siris, are working to contain and clean up the affected area.
Another fire broke out near the town of Gergei , in an area bordering rural areas and arable land. This fire also required aerial intervention, with helicopters departing from the Villasalto, Sorgono, and Fenosu bases, where the Superpuma fire brigade operates. The firefighting operations were coordinated by the Isili Forestry Corps station. Support was provided by a team from the Cagliari Forestry Corps' GAUF (Global Fire Brigade), two Forestas teams from the Isili and Villanovatulo construction sites, a team from the Mandas Fire Brigade, and volunteers from the Guasila and Isili associations. The flames affected arable land, olive groves, and scrubland, but timely intervention prevented more serious consequences.
