A night under the stars, a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. The Prayer Wayfarers set out from Sinnai around 1:30 AM. A long procession with several thousand young and old, some with a record attendance: 40 of the 40 pilgrimages organized since 1987.
A very long night began around 10:30 pm yesterday in a church, that of Santa Barbara, in Sinnai, which quickly filled to capacity with a veritable crowd that followed the Mass concelebrated by the Archbishop of Cagliari, Giuseppe Baturi , who spoke of war, peace, love, and the future, with the hope that it will be better than what we are experiencing in the world today, where war is now exploding everywhere.
Then came the arrival of the "marathon runners" carrying the torch, which for the past few weeks has been crisscrossing Sardinia at the initiative of the "Cammino di Bonaria" association. One of the most anticipated and beautiful moments of the night was greeted by the singing of the folk group S'Arrodia with "Salve Regina, benia in d'una cascia po mari" (Hail Holy Queen, benia in d'una cascia po mari) and the song "Is Goccius" (Is Goccius) by Sinnai poet Ignazino Cappai. Then came the pilgrimage from the Piazza to Via Roma, with the first stop on the outskirts of Sinnai, at the small chapel of Bonaria, built 15 years ago on the corner of Via D'Arborea.
More hymns, more prayers, more emotion, then the night journey to Bonaria, passing through the hinterland villages and stopping for refreshments at the Salesians of Selargius, before resuming the journey to the Shrine of the Lady, who arrived in 1370 in a wooden crate dumped at sea from a ship at risk of sinking. This morning, the arrival in Cagliari and the blessing.
The event, organized by the "Il Segno" association and the parish, was broadcast live on Videolina.
