Luckily, it was just a big scare, but the misadventure of a mother and two little girls this afternoon could have ended much worse. They found themselves on the rocks in a very inaccessible area of Cala Gonone, near the Grotta dei Colombi, while on their SUP.
They had been dragged there by rough seas. A team of firefighters from the Nuoro Provincial Command responded to the scene, alerted by the Olbia Port Authority.
Unable to rescue the three unfortunate women by sea due to strong currents, the Drago helicopter was called in . The mother and daughters were rescued with a winch and safely disembarked. Meanwhile, a Coast Guard lookout from Cala Gonone provided the necessary support at sea.
Two ambulances from the Cala Gonone Blue Cross and two Carabinieri patrols from Dorgali were also on site. Fortunately, both the woman and the girls are safe.
